Community guidelines

"A Space for all to challenge themselves and learn"

At NOMAD Bouldering this mission guides our actions. We endeavour to build a space that cultivates a diverse and vibrant community. We challenge our members to be the best version of themselves - regardless of age, ability level, body type or size, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or any other identity, culture, or background.

The guidelines below are the bedrock of our community. NOMAD Bouldering reserves the right to refuse access to the facility for failing to comply with any of the following community guidelines:

1. Empathy. NOMAD is a place for people from all backgrounds and ability levels to come together. Try your best to understand, appreciate and honour them.

2. Respect. Practicing self awareness is something we strive for at all times. In the climbing gym this looks like:

  • Asking people if they would like advice or “beta”. Giving unsolicited advice may be seen as condescending.
  • Sharing the space. Consider your behaviour, words and body language when occupying the same space as others.
  • Being respectful of people at all levels. Don’t purposely crush peoples projects to show off.

3. The gym is a shared resource. Ensure you are not monopolising a boulder or piece of equipment. Make sure to be mindful of others waiting and take turns.

4. Socialise with understanding. Listen respectfully and appreciate the vast range of perspectives NOMAD Bouldering houses. Consider your speech and seek to understand and respect others perspectives.

5. Build up. We are all trying to build better versions of ourselves, with that comes failure at times, when we fall our community helps to dust the chalk off and try again. Let’s be there for each other both in the successes and failures.

6. Speak Up. Unwanted or dangerous behaviour is never tolerated. Unwanted or dangerous behaviour is not tolerated. We encourage our members to speak up or you can report concerns by sending an email directly to our community manager abigail@NOMADbouldering.com. We will keep any interactions anonymous.

7. Grow. Be open minded and listen. We all strive to follow these guidelines however no one is perfect. If a staff member offers the opportunity to grow and expand your understanding please be open to this in a positive way.. We expect the best from anyone that occupies the NOMAD Bouldering space, from staff to customers.

We will not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, or any other kind of discrimination. If you see or experience discrimination or individuals not adhering to these community guidelines at NOMAD Bouldering, please report it to a manager or send an email to our community manager abigail@NOMADbouldering.com and we will address it. We will keep any interactions anonymous.
